United Methodist Women News
THANK YOU: As we enter a new year, I would like to thank everyone
who has supported the United Methodist Women in any way during 2011.
It takes many hands to do the work of the UMW and even more prayers.
As a result of the various fundraisers and activities sponsored by UMW,
there have been many opportunities for growth and fellowship among the
women of the church. UMW needs the help of all women in the church in
2012 to continue to serve and further our mission efforts for women,
children, and youth, as well as for all people. Please feel free to contact
me at any time with questions or suggestions about UMW.
I wish everyone a healthy and happy New Year.
Joyce DiCarlo, UMW 412- 882-7943
PUBLICITY CHAIRPERSON NEEDED: The UMW needs a creative
and committed publicity chairperson to take over publicity activities for
2012. This person is responsible for submitting articles for the church
newsletter, weekly bulletins, and doing special bulletin boards, flyers, and
displays. The publicity chairperson works with the president, UMW
board, and circle chairpersons to publicize programs and fundraisers in
local media and through other methods. Please contact Joyce DiCarlo for
more information.
FALL FASHION SHOW: On November 19, the fashion show and
luncheon with Phyllis Fashions added a total of $800 to the UMW
treasury. Thanks to Phyllis and her models, we were entertained and
educated about how to stretch our clothing budget. Phyllis Fashions
donated 10% of the sales of
the day.
DECEMBER LUNCHEON SURPRISE: As part of our December
luncheon, we surprised Betty Gregor for her 90th birthday with a little s
pecial attention. We also prepared bags at the request of Bruce Bryce,
Congregational Care pastor, to be distributed to homebound and others for
the Christmas holiday. Thanks to Jim Lombardi for sharing information
about his new role in the church.
