Philip R. Aley, Director of Music Ministries
Phil joined the staff of Baldwin Community United Methodist Church in July of 2007 as Director of Music Ministries. He has served churches in and around the Pittsburgh area as well as serving churches in Iowa and Chautauqua Institution in Western New York.
Holding degrees in music from Indiana University of Pa and Duquesne University, Phil taught public school music for over 10 years before becoming a full-time church musician in the Presbyterian Church. Coming to Baldwin is like “coming home” to the Methodist church as he grew up a Methodist Minister’s son with his mother always the church organist. As mentioned above, he served as summer choral conductor for Chautauqua Institution and had led choral workshops around the United States. A singer for all his life, Phil sang with the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh for 10 years.
Phil and his wife, Winnie reside in Greentree. Their daughters, Heather and Kristen, both live in Mt. Lebanon with their husbands, Rob and Mike. Their grandchildren, Margot, Jack and Ella are the “lights of their lives”!
