Evangelism News:
Our Evangelism Team is newly formed. Here are some of the areas of ministry we are focusing on in 2010:
There are several components to this Ministry area:
1) Website Steward - This position coordinates the administration, reveiw, and optimization of our two church websites (www.baldwincommunityumc.org and www.asburyalternative.com). God calls us to be good stewards with this new and ever evolving technology which is a key part to effective evangelism.
2) New Member/Visitor Coordinator Steward - This position handles the entire process from coordinating gathering, organizing, and disseminating information from and to visitors to our church/worship services all the way through coordinating all New Membership breakfasts, lunches, and facilitating the process for welcoming new members at our worship services.
3) House Church Steward - House churches were the original church form and structure and for many in today's culture, deciding to walk into a modern church building or contemplate coming to an entire new church family is an intimidating process. In Acts 2:42 we learn that..."They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." By establishing house churches with biblically grounded leaders from our church, we are reaching out to the community to those that might not otherwise be a part of a church family. House churches may consist of a bible study, small group study around a topic, DVD, or book, or a combination of the two - always seeking guidance from God's Word.
4) Evangelism Team of Passion - This new group consists of people that possess a strong desire to share God's Plan of Salvation with everyone, all the time. As a pebble dropped in the water pushes the rings of the water away from the center, this team is establishing a baseline approach and a basic process that can be used to train others in being effective witnesses. They are focusing initially within the church building, the groups that come to the building, and the groups that use the building. They will then work their way out through the doors, into the events, community, and eventually to the nation and world ultimately participating to the fullest in the Great Commission.
5) Coordinating Events - The initial goal is to increase the evangelistic aspect of two major outreach events:
a) Caste Village 4th of July Fireworks that are held the last Friday in June (June 25, 2010). Thousands and Thousands of people congregate on Caste Village to enjoy a spectacular Zambelli Brothers fireworks display. Baldwin Community established a presence a few years ago by selling hot dogs, kielbassa, etc. which over teh last couple of years has brought in the United Methodist Women's baked good sale, The Asbury Alternative Christian band, and much more. The Evangelism Team will work to maximize the sharing of the good news within the community during this event.
b) Caste Light Up Night in November is another big drawing community event near the church that for many kicks off the Christmas Season. Last year, we topped off the family advent event held at the church that day with a Live Nativity Scene that evening. Many people were moved by this ahowing of the "Real reason for the season" display of this miraculous event. The Evangelism Team will work to maximize the sharing of the good news within the community during this event.
